Part 4: Gulliver Travels

Gulliver leaves again to go on another adventure called The Adventure. Many of his sailors die from illnesses. He’s left on a shore. He see horses on the island, and they all surround him. Gulliver believes that the horses are magicians. The horses take Gulliver to a house where he thinks he will find people but instead more horses. The horses call Gulliver a “Yahoo” which are the nasty/non manner creatures on the island. Being on the island Gulliver starts to not care about humankind. He doesn’t want to return to Europe where humans are senseless/lying society.

The Houyhnhnms are horse, and they have a society more sensible and peaceful than the European humanity. They have a sense of peace, they do not lie and are very fair. The author makes fun of the European humanity, they are wild and unrolling. The government is corrupt. He describes them as the “Yahoos”. Europeans lie, they only care about their selves, and money. Gulliver doesn’t want to leave because is peaceful and more understanding their.

During the voyage their boat is attached by pirates causing Gulliver to be stranded. He arrives to a floating island called Laputa. Everyone is so caught up in their selves they have to remember to talk and speak. Gulliver travels to Balnibarbi. He travels to Maldonado next. In part three the author uses satire for all of the scientists and the mathematical thinkers. Thinking of a scientist you’d understand their knowledge and understand their experiments. Everyone think’s their better than everyone because of their knowledge and experiments. The scientists in Laputa show that their smart, but they don’t use their intelligence. We can be so rapped around our thoughts and ourselves that we don’t acknowledge what around us.

Part 2

Gulliver traveling and comes across an Island called Brobdingnag. When he arrives there he sees a huge giant, he tries to turn around and go back to his boat, but by this time his boat has sailed away. Gulliver lays in the field and as he was almost sliced into two he screamed as loud as he could. A farmer finds Gulliver and puts him in his pocket. Farmer takes Gulliver home to his wife and kids. His daughter puts Gulliver in her doll house and that’s where he slept. The farmer would use Gulliver for tricks and make him perform from place to place. Gulliver is taken to the Queen where she buys him, but Gulliver ask her for an apartment for the farmer. The great scholars examen’s Gulliver and says he’s not fit to live, but he explained where he comes from everything is all the size it should be for him to survive. The Queen was so fond of Gulliver that he’s always there when she eats. There’s an incident where the queens dwarf pikes Gulliver up and puts him in a bowl of cream. The Prince starts talking about Europe, he’s making fun of the Europeans, but Gulliver tried to keep his composure. The maids would strip Gulliver naked and lay him on their bosoms. One day while Gulliver is in the play house a money come alone and snatched him up and held him like she was nursing him. The style of the people is clear, masculine and smooth, but not florid. Gulliver has been in the country for about 3 years . He try to leave walking a half hour towards the sea shore. Sailor find him and start to ask him a lot of questions. He sails to England, and finally make it home.

Satire

Gulliver is like a doll at this Island. It’s different from Lilliput he’s now small and everyone is big. The farmer uses him as a tool making him do trick’s and other things. When the dwarf tried to hurt Gulliver because of his anger of not being the most littlest thing in Brobdingnag. His jealousy took over the best of him. Also another sign of satire was when the monkey had took Gulliver and tried to nurse him. When the women of the court took and stripped him naked and put him their bosoms. How the Prince described Europe as, “they love, they fight, they dispute, they cheat, they betray!” The king in this part is peace, unlike the one in Lilliput. He has no urge to fight.

Women beg on the streets because they are poor. They aren’t able to get a job because of all the children they have. Swift does not have sympathy for the women because they are the reason the kids are poor. Swift wants an end to abortion. He’s trying to sell the kids to rich people for food. If he does this then all the women will just have more children because they are paying for the kids. I honestly don’t agree with his suggestion at all. You should never sell and definitely not eat children. It’s extremely disgusting. There are plenty other ways to help the kids from being on the street. There are plenty of people in this world who can’t have children, why not give the children to them.
